Algae Bioreactor

June 2024 – Current

Objective: Design a fully automated perfusion algae harvester to create 5 grams of bio-diesel (pyrolytic or transesteric) from sunlight/LEDs.
Secondary objective: run parallel experiments with algae under different conditions (lighting, CO2, pressure, temperature) to map optimal growth patterns. Process diagram and video below.
Current Status: Reactor vessel complete. Lots of dead algae. Currently assembling sensor apparatus and redesigning pressure seal.
Odonata

February – March 2024

A pair of dragonflies for my dad.

Modeled in VR (Gravity Sketch), nTopology, and Fusion 360 – exploring multimedia and multi-material design and manufacturing. Bonus photo of my professor trying VR design for the first time.

Materials and Methods: Aluminum, Copper, Brass, Steel, Copper Patina (not pictured) was applied with ammonia vapor, salt, and white vinegar. Haas VF1, VF2, VF2SS. Reach out for workflow! mesh/NURBs, CAM, etc.

Monstera Bottle Opener

February 2024

A bottle opener that loves CO2 as much as you do – Monstera!

Modeled in VR (Gravity Sketch), and Fusion 360 – exploring multimedia and multi-material design and manufacturing.

Materials and Methods: Aluminum. Haas VF1, VF2, VF2SS. Reach out for workflow! mesh/NURBs, CAM, etc.

Ocean Plastics Recovery

May 2024

Volunteered with Ocean Plastics Recovery in Southeast Alaska to clean plastic off beaches. Our team of 12 collected 19,100 lbs of rigid plastics and rope in 5.5 days – filling a boat with white super sacks of rope, buoys, foam, tires, and more. Below is a photo of a colony of moss, saplings, and grass atop lost dock styrofoam.

Mother’s Day Earrings – On Hold

April – May 2024

Using Blender fluid simulation to create a spilling paint bucket earring for my mom. Currently getting a CNC up and running to machine at home.

Tidal

July – December 2023

Hardware Resident and CDH (Chief Driller of Holes) at Tidal, a Google X project to make aquaculture better for people and planet. Check them out!

3D printed fiber optic lamp

December 22nd-29th 2021

Inspired by Andrei Erdei’s instructable. I’ve been eyeing this project for a while (if you scroll down, you’ll see why), and decided to make my own version. I made the DNA lamp last year but ran into some manufacturing issues, so I modeled a new design that was a bit easier to troubleshoot. Programmable and completely functioning, just needs a printed housing for the Arduino. Link to download video.

Exploring 3D printable fabric with nTopo

October 2021

Inspired by Nasa and Make Anything. Project to design formal outwear with another student at Stanford.

Earrings

April 2021 – ongoing

3D printed custom-designed earrings for my friends. Pictured below from left to right: Ladybug, DNA, and Happy Avocado.

Fiber Optic DNA Lamp

March 2021

Inspired by an instructable from andrei.erdei. A fiber optic lamp using Arduino Nano and a custom CAD design. Unfinished – need different dimensions as soldering each LED was not forgiving enough for alignment.

VR Sculpted Chess Set

December 2020

This is one of my favorite projects. Designed and printed an entire set of custom chess pieces “by hand” using Gravity Sketch on an Oculus. Inspired by Make Anything

SUAVE 101 Drone course

November 2019

Took a short course to build a drone kit with Stanford UAV club (SUAVE). Not to much design work, but a some good practice with soldering, heat shrink, and zipties 😁.
